Quote of the day

From popsci.com (emphasis added):
"The US Army [is imbuing its drones] with the ability to recognize you in a crowd and even to know what you are thinking and feeling. Like a best friend that at any moment might vaporize you with a hellfire missile."
Well, with friends like that I'd be better off dead anyway!

This is off-topic, but I just wanted to commend you for your comment to Paul Krugman's "No Pain, No Gain" about the benefits of austerity for the ruling elite. Fantastic analysis, you should also write a post about it on your blog.

Thank you for your kind comment about my post.

There is another post on Krugman's piece that I like very much, by Shelby (7:38am, 2/20):

"Austerity is a bit like Greek Mythology: make the people suffer so they want and need the 'Gods' to protect and provide for them. The goal of Austerity is to bring the unruly and free-minded people into crisis and submission, to remind the people that we need the 'Gods' for our very existence."

[Three tries (so far) to get the html correct--getting a bit rusty!]
